If we examine the history of the “Abandoned One”, it becomes clear why ours is one of the few companies to grow vines here. In Roman times, the area was fairly well populated due to the particular conformation of the ground. Following the fall of the empire, the inhabitants abandoned the area due to the invasion of the barbarians, in favour of less fertile but certainly more secure lands.
Over the following centuries, the area became part of a large estate belonging to the Marquess of Della Greca, to whom we owe the immutability of the landscape, which has remained unaltered to our day. The nature of the terrain and the uncontaminated lands, never subjected to intensive farming, together with the gentle sea breeze that results in a mild, non-humid climate and grants the grapes their characteristic aroma, are just some of the factors that led us to choose this location as the site of our new adventure.
